First Day

Yesterday was my first day at The Close-Knit Cafe. What a great way to earn some extra cash. As I've told others, if I could have a full time job like this and afford to pay my bills, I would in a heartbeat. I've been working non-stop for the past eleven years, and the other jobs have been souless jobs working for major corporations. Flipping burgers at McDonalds. Trying to con people into signing up for credit cards that they don't need at Target. Not to mention the ethics of sweatshop labor. Now trying to sell people on more cable services, when we can't fix the problems Charter's customers aleady have.

Finally, I have a job that I have no political qualms with. It's locally owned. We serve organic, fair trade coffee that comes from a non-profit orginazation. The idea had floated in the back of my head that one day, maybe I should start my own shop. As I talked to Mom last night, she said the same thing. Maybe eventually, that's my purpose in life. Corporate life is definately not for me. I'll do it for the time being, but not for the rest of my life.

In other news, our blog is now a memeber of the Knittyheads web ring.
