Just a brief post
Once again, I shuld be working on the shawl, but I haven't because I've been playing around all night practicing knitting Continental and purling Norwegian. Oooh, don't I sound like a world traveler? I really want to practice more with Fair Isle, but I'm convinced that Continental is the way to go on that.
I've taken a break on Kiri as I dropped a few stitches and have to take a look and see what the hell I did. However, I must knit at work, so I started some grey alpaca/wool blend socks for Kirstie, since I go to see the yummy socks that she's making for me.
She and I went to Grinny Possum this weekend, where I bought some alpaca yarn to make socks for myself. We talked to the owner and I told her I would be ordering a wheel from her. She recommended the Ashford Traveller and said she would have started out on that wheel if she had to do over again. Good to know since that's the wheel I wanted anyway.
If you haven't seen Interweave's KnitScene yet, you really should check it out. Think Vogue Knitting's Knit1, only better.

I love Fair Isle knitting. If I were you, I'd work on the two handed method. Sounds complicated, but it really isn't. You just knit continetial with one color, throw with the other. (Really, it's not that hard.) This way you don't have to keep dropping your yarn, which can be very time consuming.

I agree with you, KnitScene is sooooo much better than Knit1. And you can get free patterns on their website, not cheesy patterns either. Hope you are well!
