An advance project I began when I 1st started knitting, I had put it on the back burnner for over 6 months and tonight I finished it! *drum roll* The Entrelac Shawl I was making for my Gma. It is beautiful. I wet it and am hanging it to dry. A dry photo will be in my gallery soon, Man it feels good to finish a long awaiting FO.

"Can music come and save your soul?"

I really couldn't think of a title for the entry, and I'm hooked on Tilly and the Wall again, so I thought I'd just use a lyric. Not to mention, I've been spinning to them quite a bit. I think my wheel's name may be Tilly. I had thought it was Eileithyia, after the Greek goddess of Childbirth who was also a clever spinner. That after listening to a lot of New Age music while spinning. So I'm still not sure.

I've decided to make a cabled purse. I tried to think of the perfect yarn to use. I was thinking something a bit tweedy or heathered, but after looking at the Cafe, I still hadn't decided. after traffic school, I stopped by Sophie's, and still didn't find anything that really struck me. The plan was to spin my own tweed mix, but I got home and remembered the heathered tan merino I'd spun. Perfect!

At the shop, I started talking to one of the girls who works there, whose name I've forgot already. (Sorry! I'm terrible with names.) But she also has a blog,

Yeah, Halloween votive holders filled with coins.

I attempted to block the shawl, but that was a bust. Right now, it's the Not-So Shaped-Triangle. Quite a bit of the teal bled when I soaked the shawl, but the loss of color isn't severe. I've already told Kirstie she's helping me block this when she comes into town in a few weeks. Here it is, strethed out from wetting it though...

You say "Fiber Whore" like it's a bad thing!

It's been a bit sonce my last post. I've been busy working, spinning, and knitting. Not to mention I had a birthday last week! My aunt bought me a set of hand carders for fiber preperation, and I've been carding the bamboo fiber from eBay, a small bag of wool one of my LJ friends sent, and the alpaca fiber I bought.

These are my Ashford hand carders. I can't believe my aunt Paula bought these on top of a new pair of jeans and a shirt.

Remember this bamboo?

I learned how to card it into punis.

It's slow spinning, but the plan is to Navejo ply the singles and then creat a cabled yarn, by plying those two strands together. Then, I'll dye the yarn, and it's going to be knit into a purse. Here's what I have so far.

I also bought 3 pounds of alpaca on ebay to spin and knit.
