Squee!

Dearest Secret Pal,

Shame on you! How dare you call your package to me meager? Meager?? Last night, I came home to find your package waiting. As I opened it, I found Fleece Artist sock yarn! Fleece Artist is so far from meager! I've drooled over it online for awhile, but have never laid my hands upon it until now. I'm fully convinced it's amoung the Holy Trinity of Sock Yarns (the other two being Koigu and Cherry Tree Hill Supersock) And Crystal Palace DPNs! I feel so spolied!!!

THANK YOU!

Speaking of sock yarn, I'm in the process of spinnig my own right now. I've dyed the roving (60's wool-unknown breed, but soft enough) with Wiltons and AmeriColor icing colors. I'm taking step-by-step pictures of the process - roving to socks. Here's the first steps:

First, I start with plain wool.

Then I 'paint' the fiber.

Time to steam it...

Next, the rovings get to dry over my shower bar. These are going to be the colors for my socks.

Once they are dry, I get to start spinning... which leads up to my final picture for now.

Another awaited update from the Kirstie

yeah - I'm lazy. Since x-mas I have not had a lot to post about - so after I finished a pair of socks for a friend, I did 2 drop stitch scarves for her and then I started 5 new projects. 3 from the Scarf Style book: Ene's Scarf, which I have gotten 7 rows into it and decided to take a break - which is when I decided to start on Turtleneck Shrug which I finished today ^_^ and I started on Misty garden but I think I am going to use that yarn for something else... donno - I have also started my 4th pair of socks and picked up a simple WIP (k1,p1 ribber scarf) to maybe finish. I leave you with a picture of the shrug.

Oooh! Footies!

A quick note about my last post: When you work in tech support, meeting a Buffy villain is apparently very cool. Show the picture to a few people, and then they show thier friends or tell you to show so-and-so. How funny.

In more important stuff, I finished the hourglass heel footies. They seem very warm and I only used 1 ball of 185 yd/skein Plymouth Indiecita Alpaca. Plus, check out the insanely hawt flannel coffee cup pajamas. Now that's just sexy. Too bad I can't find my matching slippers. I know where my sock monkey slippers are, but I can't very well wear those with the coffee cups. Anyway, here are my footies:

Now it's back to working on Mariah. At the rate I'm going, it'll be done in time for next fall.

A dose of random things

I ordered a new set of knitting needles that arrived on Wednesday. Handmade, mahogany finsish, they're so pretty. For $49.00 before shipping, I got 14 pairs, size 4 - 35. I have no idea what I'll use some of those larger pairs for (you know I hate big needles) but they are there in case I do need them. Now I just need a pretty needle case to hold them all.

In non-knitting news, I went to The Rudyard Kipling to see Common Rotation. What a great show! I had so much fun even though I did go alone. After the show, I had my picture taken with Adam Busch and Eric Kufs. Adam was so nice to me, even though I know the stupidest things must have come out of my mouth. Here's the thing, I might have an Associates in Computer Programming, but I have a Ph. D. in Social Ineptitude.

Like Kirstie said today: "You're like me, we don't want to sit there and not say anything, but when we do speak, we sound retarded." Yep. Adam probably thought I was just weird because I knew him from Buffy, but no. I'm like that with anyone I don't know. He was sweet and never asked me if I rode the short bus, so I have to give him credit for that. (And I never said the B word, so I didn't come off as a total fangirl.) Kirstie was also really proud that I just up and went out to a show by myself. I feel weird going to places by myself, but I'm glad I did.

Mom had me take pictures of Maude so she can put one on the mantle. There's already a few, more than there are of me I think. Maybe not, but she loves pictures of that dog. It's pretty bad when a Bassett Hound has her own recliner and now mom wants a dog sweater with colors that'll compliment her coloring. Hmmm, any suggestions?? Here's a does of cuteness for you:
