Socks, Mittens, and Books!
I've been getting a lot accomplished this past week. I've been cleaning, knitting, spinning, and carding. On top of working, fixing my coworker's home computer, and going to a baseball going. There was even a little bit of sleep in there somewhere!
To start off, I took off work a few hours early so I could get to the fair grounds to pick up my fair entries. There was a comment from a judge on the back of my shawl's tag. "Class 46 would have been the place to enter this. Beautiful work." Class 46 is the miscellaneous category. You know, the one my mittens took second in. Apparently, the batty old coots judging thought it was a table cloth. WHO THE HELL MAKES A TABLECLOTH OUT OF WOOL?????? Fine, if that's how we're going to roll, then next year there better be a blue ribbon on my 'tablecloth.' My first project for KSF 2008 is done.
Next, my Crystalline Lattice Socks are done. I'm very happy with them and they are quite comfy.
I've started on my next project.
This mitten is the first in a pair called Kylan. Haven't heard of them? Kylan is supposedly the most popular name for boys in Norway. I liked it, so that's what I named them. That's right, it's my pattern. I'm planning on writing it up, once the initial pair is complete. At that time, the pattern will be available for a small fee from this site.
I also received 4 books I'd ordered last week. Talk about yarn prøn! They are filled with wonderful mittens, gloves, socks, hats, and scarves. Really, you'd die if you saw them. (And yes, I'm bringing them to knitting tomorrow!) All of the books are from Raumagarn. The titles are Oppskrifter på Luer, Votter, og Strømper, Selbustrikk, Votter og luer, and Strømper og sokker Votter og Vanter, Luer Pannerbånd og Skjerf. Yes, they are all in Norwegian, but fortunately they did come with a list of knitting terms. I'm pretty psyched about these books.
I was going to post pictures of my clean apartment, but I'll save that for the next post. My carding and spinning pictures can also wait. I'll be getting something new for spinning soon, and I'll post them all at the same time. It gives you something to look forward to.
And finally, I didn't get the promotion, but I'm only a bit down. After all, I'm still relatively new and I haven't had claims training. My time is coming soon though!

Kentucky State Fair time!
Sorry I haven't posted in two weeks, I've been getting last minute stuff ready for the fair along with some general laziness. The fair started on Thursday, and I've been three times already. I'm pretty much faired out at this point. I entered three items, and ended up with two ribbons: a second and a third. I was a bit disappointed that my shawl didn't get a ribbon at all, since it was a more complicated pattern than last years.
Kirstie wanted to spray paint the judges' houses with "WTF? Knitta Please!" but I pointed out I don't know who the judges were. She thought we should just randomly spray paint people's houses in that case. This is why she's my best friend.
I'm still happy with my results though, and I'm planning for next year already.
Yesterday, Kirstie, Chris, and I went to the fair and looked at the bunnies. One of the bunny owners was selling angora fur, so I bought a beautiful bag of grey angora that weighed 4 oz for $20. I think I'm going to blend it up with a pale pink, and mix a bit of fuscia silk with it. I think that would look nice.
I'm still working on my site upgrade, which means I'm thinking about it, but no work has actually been done yet. My mind has been occupied lately. I did have an interview for the promotion, and now I'm just waiting to hear. Hopefully I'll know something soon.

Changes loom on the horizen
Within the next few weeks, I'm hoping to give DriveByKnitting a major overhaul. I currently have a test blog set up and once I get the graphics created and the coding tweaked to my liking, I'll make the big reveal here. One change is that I'm switching from Movable Type to Wordpress. I've already practiced exporting and importing my posts, so no worries. My data will not be lost.
My first Crystalline Lattice sock is finished. It's very comfortable too. I've never made socks without wool so thing is a new experience, but the results were excellent.
A little something for all you sock fetishists out there.
Not much else to post right now. I've been busy updating my resume for a promotion at work. Keep your fingers crossed for me, guys.
