It only looks like I've been slacking...
...but I really haven't. Thursday, I had my wisdom teeth out and things didn't go to plan. The dentist said it was one of the most difficult extractions he's had. My nerves were exposed during the surgery and due to that, I should regain feeling to my chin and lower lip in about a month. The pain and swelling have gone down quite a bit, but it's still very difficult to eat anything solid. So far I've had a few wheat crackers and 1 1/2 pancakes. Thursday was really bad as I couldn't keep my pain meds down, and only slept for 3 hours at a time. Now the doctor has ordered me off work for the week.
I was recouped enough to see Tori Amos last night at the Palace. WOW. Keep in mind, this was my 9th Tori show, but I have to say it was the best! Kirstie treated Arida and me to 3rd row center seats. It was just awesome!
But now I guess I should talk about knitting. Like that sweater. The one that I've been working on forever! The one that is DONE! (excluding some minor ends that need to be woven in.) I'm so proud of it. The sleeves are a bit long, but it fits and looks awesome.
I'll take a better pic while wearing it once the swelling goes down. I'm so proud of it. I really am. And if you love it, and are on Ravelry, so me some love and add it to your favorites. Please? Now I've cast on the Frost Flower and Leaves shawl from A Gathering of Lace. It's knit on size 6 needles and I'm using KnitPicks Shadow in the color Sunset. NINE skeins of Sunset. It's going to be HUGE, I know. And it's going to take forever to knit. Here's what I've done so far:
In other lace related news, I ordered The Princess Shawl pattern. With shipping, it was $51.00 but it's going to be so worth it. I'll get years of knitting joy and frustration from that purchase. I also ordered two sock spinning kits from Dyepot.com. I'd admired the colors for a while and once there were on sale, I had to jump at the chance. They include about 5 oz of superwash wool and 2.5 oz of tussah silk.
The first is called Science Fiction.
That's about all I have for now. Lexington was a blast, and if you want to read about it, check out Dana's blog and see what sort of trouble we got ourselves into!

A Pre-emptive Update
Before anyone can give me grief for not posting yet this week, I'm beating you to the punch. So HA! The sweater marches on. I finished the front, and the sleeves are progressing, but not as fast as I'd like. My knitting time at work has been dramatically cut down, and next week it's gone. I'll be back on my regular work schedule, but in two weeks I'll have 5 straight days off. Sure it's to get my wisdom teeth out, but what do you think I'm going to be doing when the grogginess wears off? I'd like the sweater to be complete before then so i can get a running start on my shawl, but we'll see. And of course, when I start on my next shawl, knitting monogamy goes out the window. I'm going to have to have smaller projects to work on when i need a break.
I'll let you see what I'm planning when we reach that point. Until then, here is more sweater yumminess:
Can I say again how much I love this pattern? I just think it's beautiful. I'm getting so many compliments on it. Even from a guy that I have a bit of a crush on. I mean really, how can you not adore a guy who appreciates the work it takes to create a hand knit item? Sigh...
I also received a gift from my secret swap pal. Yummy (using that word a lot today) hand combed Wensleydale in green and purple. I'm thinking of spinning it up and plying with a black merino for a Halloween sock yarn (for next year of course!). Along with that, I received little Halloween cookie cutters, Knitpicks Harmony DPNs (so pretty!) and a little Halloween box with candy that I've already consumed. Thank you so much! I LOVE Wensleydale and the colors!!
And I was wrong about the Southern In Fiber Fair. It's actually the 20th, which is the weekend I'll be in Lexington being kidnapped by Dana and Christine again. As much as I love fiber fairs, going to the track and knitting will be more fun!

Trucking along
The sweater is coming along nicely. Last Thursday, I finished the back and cast on the front. I'm about half way through everything now after two weeks. I'm really proud of my progress and that I haven't let myself get bored with it.
As you can see, I'm already working on the V neck. Once I finish the front, I'm going to cast on and knit both arms at the same time so I know the decreases are starting at the same point on both.
This next month is going to be a busy one! This weekend I'll be going to the Southern Indiana Fiber Fest. I'm going to be good and not buy too much, since I already know I'm placing a knitpicks order soon. The weekend of the 19th, Dana is coming into Lexington, so I'll be hanging with her, Christine, and Dana's boyfriend. Then the next weekend is going to be good and bad. Good because Kirstie is coming in town and we are going to see Tori Amos in concert. This will by my 9th time seeing her, but my first since '99. It''ll be a bad weekend though because I'm getting my wisdom teeth out. I've been putting it off for a while, and I really just need to do it soon.
Okay, that's about all I have for now. Don't worry, You'll see more sweater progress later!
